Moonee Valley City Council - South Crossways Reserve 2020

Native grasslands have been discovered in three Moonee Valley reserves; The Crossway South Reserve, Arcade Way and JH Allan Reserve. The Natural Temperate Grasslands of the Victorian Volcanic Plain are critically endangered and protected by both the state and federal governments. To highlight the importance and beauty of the grasslands, our Conservation and Arts and Culture departments teamed up to create an open-air art gallery in the Crossway South Reserve. Taking inspiration from the native wildflowers in the grasslands, Artists Abbey Rich and Jimmy Dvate have created murals on the walls that border the reserve. The project was funded through the Victorian Government’s Caring for Our Local Environments program.

Hurstville Library - Georges River Council NSW 2021

A bright install to bring life to the entryway of the public library. Before I started painting I got to sit in on a story time with some kids, we did some drawing together and it was super magic — we came up with some drawings to add to this pole here in the centre of the facade for all to see as you enter the library. I had to leave quite quickly due to a Covid outbreak so haven’t got great photographs unfortunately.

First Coat Festival - Toowoomba QLD 2019

Asylum Seeker Resource Centre Food Bank - Footscray 2020

Bringing some life to the Food Bank at the ASRC - this space is where members come to get groceries so they wanted it to be colourful but not too overwhelming with a nod to the space’s function.
Supported by Tint Paint.

Second Stitch - Entryway Mural, Coburg 2021

Featuring the brand colours of Second Stitch the mural brightens up the entryway bringing customers in off the street up into the second floor studio. I also did some sign writing for the A-Frame that sits outside on Sydney Road.

Immigration Museum - Being Mirka 2021

Through the lens of identity and belonging this piece engages with the many facets of Mirka Mora that have made her so revered and interesting. Her fierce passion and the diversity of her creative practice resonates with me deeply – like so many people, I have known and loved Mirka’s work my whole life. Motifs within this artwork pay homage to the objects featured in the Being Mirka installation: the intriguing, unfinished embroidered winged angels, the gorgeous bird-shaped scissors and a simple wooden doll. The book A Rage to Live could not have a more appropriate title to symbolise Mirka’s attitude to life and the inscription within is such a moving tribute to her migrant story. This work plays with scale and texture. I wanted to incorporate the varied materials Mirka worked with such as paint and fabric, as well as magnify the objects to suggest the weight of importance each had for Mirka. The piece is an amalgamation of my own shapes and style mixed in with those of Mirka. Both our work relies heavily on colour and composition – creations that reward closer inspection to discover more depth and meaning.

Drummoyne Street as Shared Space - City of Canada Bay
Decal Designs 2020

Commissioned by Canada Bay Council to help turn a closed off street into a vibrant eating and socialising area. Some decals are interactive like the hopscotch while other serve to decorate the informative panels and reflect the edible native plants that the council has planted in the community gardens. The work includes approximately 40 decals across the site.
